The View from Turquhouse Hotel

The reason why Istanbul, a city with more than 30 names, is called ‘Seven Hill’ is because of the seven hills that are inside the castle walls which stil remain around the city today. The Pierre Loti hill, where Turquhouse hotel is situated, is a place from where a unique panorama of all the seven hills until the junction of Marmara sea and The Golden Horn can be viewed.

This is the main reason why Istanbul has always been pictured and painted from this particular hill. The reddish color reflected on The Golden Horn by the sunrise and the sunset creates a sight definitely worth seeing. This particular color is the reason behind the name ‘The Golden Horn’.
